Greetings from Happy Valley!

I am writing to invite you to attend the Opening Reception of Ojai Studio Artists: Homage and Continuum, an exhibition celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Ojai Studio Artists (OSA) at the Beatrice Wood Center for the Arts.

The exhibition opens this Saturday, September 7th, from 2 - 5 pm and will be presented through October 13th.

The Ojai Studio Artists organization began when three Ojai artists - Bert Collins, Marta Nelson, and Gayel Childress - had the idea to invite art lovers and collectors into the studios of Ojai artists for a single weekend. Twenty-four artists participated that first weekend, creating the artist's collective. Today OSA has doubled in size, with each new member juried in only after demonstrating the highest standards of professional excellence and achievement.

Ruth Farnham and Richard Franklin

As a 501(c) 3 nonprofit community education organization working year-round, OSA has to date given more than $125,000 in art scholarships. They also purchase art books for local libraries, partner with schools in teaching classes and mentoring students, and support public art projects and other community programs. The highlight of the year is the Ojai Studio Artists annual tour, which has grown in prestige and attendance with thousands of individuals visiting Ojai the second weekend in October to expand their art collections. This year the tour will be October 12th & 13th.

Alice Matzkin, David Reeser, and Susan K. Guy

To celebrate this important anniversary, I asked OSA artists to create works that celebrate the organization's members and history. The works in Ojai Studio Artists: Homage and Continuum are truly wonderful and I hope you have an opportunity to visit the Center for the Opening Reception, or during the tour in October to view them.
