I found this wood laying on the ground in the bush. It had been partly burned, probably in a bushfire. It made me think about how all wood eventually returns to the earth. After it was turned, I carved and re-burnt the wood to remind us of the way it was when I found it. It made me think of the traditional words we use for our own return to the earth: Ashes to ashes, dust to dust...
