Bead Embroidery on Used Baseballs by Maracole Bijoux
The workshop will begin with a quick presentation of work made by Maracole Bijoux and discussion of the aim of the workshop. Participants will then be shown how to “skin” a baseball (removing its heavy core), and to stitch the two halves back together using an embroidery needle and seed beads.

A discussion of patterns and color combinations will also occur during the process of bead embroidery.
There will be a demonstration of how to secure a magnet inside the baseball and demonstration of an entire baseball stitched back in place after being “skinned” and filled with PolyFil.
Maracole will showcase a few samples of decorative embroidery on various baseballs, with a demonstration of each technique.
Students will be able to practice and experiment with the various techniques. Participants will then learn how to attach a beaded rope to the baseball to make it wearable without a magnet, and how to create a neck band, on which to connect the beaded rope to make the piece wearable.
At the end of the workshop, suggestions will be offered on ways to correct possible mistakes and how to complete the works at home.
