Gayel Childress works in acrylic, watercolor, printmaking, oil, and mixed media. His work can be found in numerous private and corporate collections throughout the United States and Europe. With Marta Nelson and Bert Collins, Gayel founded the Ojai Studio Artists' Tour in the late 1980s, leading to thousands of dollars being contributed to arts education as well as tremendous economic vitality to the Ojai Studio Artists and the community of Ojai. Gayel paints with a characteristic touch of whimsy and a love for color, form, and design. As the artist puts it: "I think of my paintings as a form of poetry, a way to convey my thoughts or feelings through the visual senses. Working to catch the spirit of my subject, often with an eye for experimentation. I find the investigation and exploration of the various media, and the process of painting, as exciting as the finished artwork."
Cost $175. per person ($150. for members)
