Anyone who has ever visited this studio knows to what extent it resembles an alchemist's laboratory, with jars of powders and formulations covering the shelves and a wide-range of tools hanging above the worktables.
The installation of these two exhibitions was left to the artist's themselves, who created dramatic and theatrical presentations. Although exhibitions come and go, it is wonderful that they can live on through this website.

In the case of Angela de Mott's work, this concerned the manner in which earth and glazes are transformed through fire, resulting in stunning works of art. While her works were on display, the artist enjoyed a residency at the Center, working in Beatrice Wood's studio. 
Robert S. Hilton, who designs, creates and performs on his own musical instruments, performed at the opening reception on March 31st. As these instruments and his performances are works of art in themselves, featuring transformed objects, Hilton fit very comfortably into the theme of Alchemy & Transformation. 
It was a pleasure to work with these artists in creating this exhibition and I look forward to their future work and working with them again at the Beatrice Wood Center for the Arts.
