In conjunction with the exhibition Art and Nature, ceramic artist Lauren Hanson will be presenting a hands-on afternoon workshop sharing her techniques for carving imagery and designs in low-relief. The artist will provide wheel-thrown “leather-hard” porcelain cups that will be ideal for carving. Participants are encouraged to bring their own image references, favorite tools, and their own pieces to carve if they prefer. A variety of images on paper that can be copied or transferred on to cups will also be provided.
At the end of the workshop, participants can take their cups home to fire in their own kilns, though there will be option of leaving them at the studio to be bisque fired and then finished with a celadon glaze.
$45 for ceramists taking and firing their own work.
$55 for those leaving works to be glazed and fired with a celadon glaze.
