Meet the Artists!
Reception will follow the performance.

The creators of Beach Town Hootenanny Sing-Along will present a fun and lively group sing-along, with the popular songs of the 50s, 60s, and 70s. Hans Betzholtz leads with his guitar and Lisa Starr leads the singing with occasional harmonica, washboard and Ukelele! Short stories about the artists, writers and songs themselves, give fun insights to the music we all know and love. We often hear people say, “These are the songs we grew up with!”, and, “I never knew what that song was about!”.

Hans and Lisa love to bring people together and connect through the power of music and song. It brings a lot of happiness, when people join together and make one fun and joyous sound. Even if you don’t think you can sing, you’ll think that you can after this event!

BENEFITS OF GROUP SINGING

Singing in groups doesn’t happen as much as it used to! Even if one doesn’t consider themselves to be good or even mediocre singer, it’s great to be out and among people having a good time. Even if you’re just tapping your toes or doing the hand jive, it’s a blast to sort of visit the feelings of the “Old Days”. The health benefits of group singing are many. Group singing is scientifically proven to:

  • lower blood pressure
  • increase circulation
  • alleviate depression
  • release the “feel good” chemicals in our brains that fight chronic pain and fatigue.
  • Improve memory
  • SINGING AND COMERADERIE ENCOURAGES LONG LIFE!

About the Performers:

Hans Betzholtz and Lisa Starr

Hans Betzholtz is a professional recording artist, band member and retired audio expert. His initial music education began as a child in Stockholm, Sweden, where he attended the Adolf Fredrik School of Music. His experience in recording studios earned him the nickname of “One Take Jake”, as his guitar prowess offers very clean and precise playing. Hans has an uncanny ability to remember just about any song he has ever played on guitar. He has a natural ear and can learn songs just by listening to them. He is in several bands and plays bass and guitar.

Lisa Starr is a natural, self-taught musician with an ear for harmony singing. From early childhood to present, music and singing are among her most favored of passions. Her natural singing ability has afforded her places in choirs, and bands without ever learning to read a note of music. She has been in several folk and rock and roll bands, has been hired as a backup singer in several studio recordings and as a wedding singer. She sings, plays harmonica, percussion and is presently learning to play the Ukelele.

Beachtown Hootenanny Sing-Along

Hans and Lisa created Beachtown Hootenanny Sing-Along to lead group singing of the popular songs of the 50s, 60s, and 70s. They lead sing-alongs for community events, private parties, and retired and assisted living facilities. More information can be found at Hootenannysingalong.com
